THE NARROW PATH TO RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD - DAY 88

by Rev. Robert John Cericola, Carroll, OH - EUA

Day 88

For this reason

Colossians 1:9–10 (AMP) For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things - That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of God [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition].

Paul in his letter to the Colossians, expresses his delight in their faith in Christ and their love for all the saints. It is because of their faith and love that Paul continues to ask the Father to give them complete knowledge of His will, with wisdom, and spiritual insight that would enable them to please God, bear fruit, and steadily grow in their relationship with God.

To grow our relationship with Jesus and Father it is imperative that we first understand Father’s will for our lives which He gave us in Romans 8:29 and how His will is accomplished in us, Romans 8:28.  As we live life through the filter of God’s will we are able to please Him, bear fruit, and grow in relationship with Him.

Paul, as in other letters, emphasized the need to grow in relationship with God and not the material world. He did not pray for their material needs, which certainly they had, he focused his prayer for them on the importance of knowing God.

Paul’s assignment was to spread the Gospel of Christ to the Gentiles and in so doing he faced persecution, fear, health challenges and near-death experiences. It was during these challenges that Paul learned to draw his strength from Christ Who, because of His love for Paul, would not withhold any good thing from him.

As you grow in relationship with Father and Jesus Christ you will come to know just how much you are loved and realize Love will not withhold any good thing from you.

Ending Thoughts
Are you focused on knowing God or using faith to obtain material things?
