Day 69
Food
John 4:31–34 (NKJV) In the meantime
His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” But He said to them, “I have
food to eat of which you do not know.” Therefore the disciples said to one
another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My
food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
In this story, the disciples had left
Jesus resting at a well and went off to purchase food. When they returned and
urged Jesus to eat He told them he had food they knew nothing about.
Many believe attending church,
tithing, studying the bible, and taking communion is sufficient to complete the
work God has started in them. These activities are all good however, we must
not slip into thinking we are fulfilling the will of God in their performance,
because It is not church activities but doing the will of the Father that feeds
us spiritually.
Like Jesus Christ, our Savior, our
spiritual food comes from doing the will of the Father which leads us into
relationship with Him. As Christ is formed in us our love for God and our
compassion for the lost increases and causes us to tell someone about Jesus and
by which we are nourished.
Ending
Thoughts
Our
activities should stem from the will of God and not the will of man. Are you caught up in church activities? Are
you fulfilling the will of God or the will of man?
