Meditation 108

Jars of Clay

2 Corinthians 4:7–10 (ESV) But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.

The glorious message of salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ has been entrusted by God to humans that are frail and blemished vessels of clay to show the power working in them belongs to God and not to the vessel.

They were afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; so that the life of Jesus Christ could be manifest in their bodies. Those that observed the trails Paul and his ministry team walked through must have thought, “How can they survive and continue preaching Christ in conditions like this?” They were always on the edge of destruction but the power of God brought them through.

Likewise, we too, carry the glorious message of salvation and eternal life in our frail and blemished vessels of clay that the attributes of Jesus Christ can be manifested. In every pressure filled situation you face, the people around you expect you to react with a selfish worldly response. If criticized you are expected to criticize. If accused you are expected to strike back with accusations. When hated you are expected to hate. But when you respond with love the life of Jesus Christ shines brightly through you and people wonder how you can continue on. It is at that very moment that the message of salvation can be shared with them.

Ending Thoughts

As you travel the Narrow Path you will face challenges. Adapt Paul’s attitude and accept each challenge as an opportunity for Christ’s life to be manifest through you. As those in your circle see your reaction they will want what you have and you will be able to share the message of salvation with them.

Frascos de Barro

2 Coríntios 4:7-10 Mas nós temos este tesouro em jarros de barro, para mostrar que o poder supremo pertence a Deus e não a nós. Somos afligidos de todos os modos, mas não somos esmagados; perplexo, mas não levado ao desespero; perseguido, mas não abandonado; derrubado, mas não destruído; levando sempre no corpo a morte de Jesus, para que também a vida de Jesus se manifeste em nossos corpos.

A gloriosa mensagem de salvação e vida eterna através de Jesus Cristo foi confiada por Deus aos seres humanos que são frágeis e danificados vasos de barro para mostrar que o poder que opera neles pertence a Deus e não ao vaso.

Eles estavam aflitos em todos os sentidos, mas não esmagados; perplexo, mas não levado ao desespero; perseguido, mas não abandonado; derrubado, mas não destruído; para que a vida de Jesus Cristo pudesse se manifestar em seus corpos. Aqueles que observaram as trilhas percorridas por Paulo e sua equipe de ministérios devem ter pensado: “Como eles podem sobreviver e continuar pregando a Cristo em condições como esta?” Eles estavam sempre à beira da destruição, mas o poder de Deus os conduziu.

Da mesma forma, nós também carregamos a gloriosa mensagem de salvação e vida eterna em nossos frágeis e imperfeitos vasos de barro, para que os atributos de Jesus Cristo possam ser manifestados. Em todas as situações de pressão que você enfrenta, as pessoas ao seu redor esperam que você reaja com uma resposta mundana egoísta. Se criticado, espera-se que você critique. Se acusado, espera-se que você revide com acusações. Quando odiados, é esperado que você odeie. Mas quando você responde com amor a vida de Jesus Cristo brilha através de você e as pessoas se perguntam como você pode continuar. É nesse exato momento que a mensagem de salvação pode ser compartilhada com eles.

Concluindo a meditação

Ao viajar pelo Caminho Estreito, você enfrentará desafios. Adapte a atitude de Paulo e aceite cada desafio como uma oportunidade para a vida de Cristo se manifestar através de você. Como aqueles em seu círculo vêem sua reação, eles vão querer o que você tem e você será capaz de compartilhar a mensagem de salvação com eles.

Total Surrender

Acts 9:1–6 (NKJV) Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

Saul, later known as Paul, is an example of a person actively pursuing a self-centered life. He was zealous of his Jewish beliefs and interested in advancing his career by pursing and persecuting Christians. With letters from the high priest in hand, Saul was on a one hundred and fifty miles persecution mission to Damascus when the light, Jesus Christ, blinded his eyes and confronted his self-centered.  Saul astonished and trembling on the ground cried out, “Who are you Lord?” And with those words Saul’s lord ship of his self-centered life was surrendered to Christ. Whether your conversion was dramatic as Saul’s or a quiet experience the key is to surrender totally to Christ by taking up your cross to crucify your self-centered life.

Crucifixion was a slow agonizing death that could take several days. For a Christian crucifixion of the self-centered life is a struggle that will go on until one finally surrenders totally to Christ. 

Ending Thoughts

The Narrow Path is where the cross of Christ is applied to your life as you deny your selfish desires and surrender to His will. Remember your foot steps are ordered by the Lord to bring you to complete surrender and fellowship with Him. So stop struggling, just pray and obey and He will do the rest.

Saulo, mais tarde conhecido como Paulo, é um exemplo de uma pessoa que busca ativamente uma vida autocentrada. Ele era zeloso de suas crenças judaicas e estava interessado em avançar em sua carreira perseguindo e perseguindo os cristãos. Com as cartas do sumo sacerdote na mão, Saul estava em uma missão de perseguição de cento e cinquenta milhas a Damasco quando a luz, Jesus Cristo, cegou seus olhos e confrontou seu egoísmo. Crucificação foi uma morte lenta e agonizante que pode levar vários dias. Pois uma crucificação cristã da vida autocentrada é uma luta que continuará até que finalmente se renda totalmente a Cristo.

Concluindo a meditação

O Caminho Estreito é onde a cruz de Cristo é aplicada à sua vida, enquanto você nega seus desejos egoístas e se entrega à Sua vontade. Lembre-se de que seus passos são ordenados pelo Senhor para levá-lo a completa entrega e comunhão com Ele. Então pare de lutar, apenas ore e obedeça e Ele fará o resto.

Contend for the Faith

Jude 3–4 (ESV) Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Jude appeals to his readers, who were living in times of increased apostasy, to contend or fight for the faith that was originally delivered to them and he warns them of the false teachers and ungodly people that had come into their circle and are perverting the grace of God into a license to sin.

Jude 17–21 (ESV) But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.”  It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,  keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

Today we are living in the last times and many are walking away from true Christianity to follow doctrines of devils and their own ungodly passions. However, Jude encouraged the readers to pray in the Holy Spirit and thereby build themselves up in the faith and keep themselves in the love of God while they wait for the mercy of Jesus Christ that will bring them eternal life.

I once asked an elderly prophet, who spent hours in prayer daily, to teach me to pray. He responded to me with a smile and said, “I don’t pray. I ask Holy Spirit to pray through me.” There is tremendous power to keep us in the love of God when we allow the Holy Spirit to pray through us. So, take Jude’s advice and build yourself up in your faith by praying in the Holy Spirit (by praying in tongues).

Ending Thoughts

If you have never prayed in the Holy Spirit just ask Him to pray through you and start praying. It won’t be long and He will began praying through you.

Contender pela Fé

Judas 3–4 (CSV) Amados, embora eu estivesse muito ansioso para escrever-lhes sobre a nossa salvação comum, achei necessário escrever-lhes apelando para a fé que uma vez por todas foi entregue aos santos. Porque certas pessoas se arrastaram despercebidas, que há muito tempo foram designadas para essa condenação, pessoas ímpias, que pervertem a graça de nosso Deus em sensualidade e negam nosso único Mestre e Senhor, Jesus Cristo.

Judas apela aos seus leitores, que estavam vivendo em tempos de apostasia aumentada, para lutar ou lutar pela fé que foi originalmente entregue a eles, e ele os adverte dos falsos mestres e pessoas ímpias que entraram em seu círculo e estavam pervertendo a graça. de Deus em uma licença para pecar.

Judas 17–21 (VE) Mas vocês devem se lembrar, amados, das predições dos apóstolos de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo. No entanto, Judas encorajou os leitores a orarem no Espírito Santo e assim se edificarem na fé e se manterem no amor de Deus enquanto esperam pela misericórdia de Jesus Cristo que lhes trará a vida eterna.

Uma vez eu perguntei a um profeta idoso, que passava horas em oração diariamente, para me ensinar a orar. Ele me respondeu com um sorriso e disse: “Eu não oro. Peço ao Espírito Santo que ore por mim”. Existe um tremendo poder para nos manter no amor de Deus quando permitimos que o Espírito Santo ore através de nós. Então, siga o conselho de Judas e edifique-se em sua fé orando no Espírito Santo (orando em línguas).

Concluindo a meditação

Se você nunca orou no Espírito Santo, apenas peça a Ele que ore através de você e comece a orar. Não vai demorar e Ele começará a orar através de você.
