Day 49
Who
Are You Lord?
Acts
9:3–5 (NKJV), As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and
suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell
to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you
persecuting Me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the
Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to
kick against the goads.”
Paul’s
conversion came when suddenly the brightness of Jesus surrounded him on the Damascus
road. Falling to the ground Paul cried out, “Who Are You Lord?” This simple
question and Christ’s answer, ““I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting” was the
beginning of Paul’s lifelong pursuit to know Christ.
In
his pursuit to know and serve Christ Paul suffered the loss of all material
things and physically endured beatings, hunger, rejection, and imprisonment.
Yet through all his trials Paul was not distracted and kept his focus on
knowing Christ and encouraged others to make knowing Christ their life long
goal.
1
Corinthians 14:1 (AMP) Eagerly pursue
and seek to acquire [this] love [make it your aim, your great quest]... The pursuit of Love, which is the pursuit of
knowing Christ, requires a single-minded focus. Our fast paced, distraction
filled society, combined with our inherent selfishness makes the pursuit of
knowing Christ impossible until we decide to take up our cross and die to
selfish desires.
Ending
thoughts
Think
about the distractions in your life that are hindering your pursuit or knowing
Christ. Through the power of the Holy Spirit you can regain or start your
Eagerly pursuit of knowing Christ.
