Day 67
Who Am I? Who are You?
Exodus 3:9–12
(NKJV) Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me,
and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. Come
now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people,
the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I
that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out
of Egypt?” So He said, “I will certainly be with you. And this shall be
a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of
Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”
Confronted
with the thought of going back to Egypt, the very land he ran for his life
from, Moses became fearful and immediately asked, “Who, am I?” When God told him not to worry He would be
with him, Moses asked in an indirect question, “Who, are you?” Can you imagine
Moses’ thinking, “You want me to go to Egypt where Pharaoh seeks to kill me,
speak to a people that will probably not believe me, and tell Pharaoh to
release his slaves? I can’t do that. That is impossible, You, better find
someone more capable.”
It is a
wonderful thing to receive Christ as Lord and Savior and be Born Again.
However, when faced with the requirement of picking up the cross and denying
self, the same reasoning arises. “What do you want me to do? And Who are you? That’s impossible there must
be an easier way.”
After Moses
exhausted all his excuses and agreed to go, his journey from knowing about God
and having a relationship with Him began. Moses took a step of obedience that
led him into a deep relationship with God and molded him into a leader of God’s
people. Perhaps you are facing what looks like an impossible assignment. Fear
not, Jesus Christ will be with you. Take that first step of obedience and press
on into a deep relationship with Him.
