Day 42

From Glory to Glory

2 Corinthians 3:17–18 (ESV),  Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

The words, with unveiled face, refer to Moses wearing a veil when he returned from Mount Sinai with the Ten Commandment. Those that tried to please God in the Old Testament found themselves under a heavy burden of rules and ceremonies and the feeling of being guilty when they broke the covenant. When you turn you heart toward Christ and repent of you sin you are freed from the guilt and the burden of rules and ceremonies. You are freed to live for and build your relationship with Christ and His Father.

As we travel the Narrow Path to Relationship with God we draw closer and closer to Jesus. The veil that hid the glory of the Lord from Israel is removed and we can now draw close to Christ, who is the Glory of God.

As we read the Bible and are taught by the Holy Spirit we see the nature/image of Christ.  As we obey the commandment to love, Holy Spirit molds us into the Image of Christ, by revealing areas in our lives that are not Christ like.  As we repent and continue to follow Christ, we are changed from Glory to Glory. The Glory of God, the nature of love can then shine out of us into a dark dying world.

Ending Thoughts

Freedom in Christ is not freedom to indulge the flesh. Freedom in Christ is being set free from the heavy burden of trying to please God through rules and ceremonies and the guilt of failing.

Follow the Narrow Road beloved, be free to live for Christ.

De Glória em Glória

2 Coríntios 3: 17–18 (ESV), 17 Agora o Senhor é o Espírito, e onde está o Espírito do Senhor, há liberdade. 18 E todos nós, com rosto descoberto, contemplando a glória do Senhor, estamos sendo transformados na mesma imagem de um grau de glória para outro. Pois isto vem do Senhor que é o Espírito.

As palavras, com o rosto descoberto, referem-se a Moisés usando um véu quando ele retornou do Monte Sinai com o Dez Mandamentos. Aqueles que tentaram agradar a Deus no Antigo Testamento encontraram-se sob um pesado fardo de regras e cerimônias e o sentimento de serem culpados quando quebraram o pacto. Quando você volta seu coração para Cristo e se arrepende de seu pecado, você fica livre da culpa e do peso das regras e cerimônias. Você está livre para viver e construir seu relacionamento com Cristo e Seu Pai.

Enquanto percorremos o caminho estreito para o relacionamento com Deus, nos aproximamos cada vez mais de Jesus. O véu que ocultou a glória do Senhor de Israel é removido e agora podemos nos aproximar de Cristo, que é a glória de Deus.

Quando lemos a Bíblia e somos ensinados pelo Espírito Santo, vemos a natureza / imagem de Cristo. Ao obedecermos ao mandamento de amar, o Espírito Santo nos molda à imagem de Cristo, revelando áreas em nossas vidas que não são semelhantes a Cristo. Quando nos arrependemos e continuamos a seguir a Cristo, somos transformados de Glória em Glória. A Glória de Deus, a natureza do amor pode então brilhar de nós em um mundo moribundo e sombrio.

Concluindo a meditação

Liberdade em Cristo não é liberdade para satisfazer a carne. Liberdade em Cristo está sendo libertada do pesado fardo de tentar agradar a Deus através de regras e cerimônias e da culpa do fracasso.
