Be anxious about nothing
Philippians 4:6–7 (AMP) Do not fret or
have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in
everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving,
continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that
tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so
fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever
sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and
mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Paul in his letter to the Philippians
revealed to us, in straightforward instructions, how to walk in God’s peace
when faced with the circumstances of life.
Here are his down-to-earth instructions; First do not get anxious about
anything, second, in every circumstance pray definite requests and third, with
thanksgiving make your wants known to God.
Not becoming anxious about anything in
our anxiety charged society, is an overwhelming task that can only be
accomplished by applying the mortifying power of the Holy Spirt to stop the
body from becoming anxious. Praise Jesus, for the promise, the blessing, of the
New Covenant John 15:7 (NKJV) If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you,
you will ask what you
desire, and it shall be done for you.
Therefore, our first step in not becoming anxious is to ask Holy Spirit to
fill us with His calmness.
The second instruction is a
combination of prayer (talking to Jesus) and thanking Jesus for what He has
done. Thirdly, with our hearts fill with praise and thanksgiving we are to
present our definite request to God.
The results will be God’s peace will
fill our souls and guard our hearts from becoming anxious. Praise God.
