Meditation 117

No Other Doctrine

1 Timothy 1:3–5 (NKJV) As I urged you when I went into Macedonia - remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith. Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith.

Paul had left Timothy in Ephesus to warn the church and reprimand some individuals that were teaching false doctrines. Writing from Macedonia to Timothy, Paul stresses that arguing about fables and genealogies leads to disputes rather than the purpose of the commandment which is love from a pure heart.

Although Paul wrote his letter to Timothy close to two thousand years ago it continues to be applicable. Today we have preachers and teachers spreading doctrines that do not lead people into a relationship with God but sound good and appeal to the carnal nature. 

Ending Thoughts

Following the commandment to love leads to a deep relationship with God which is the purpose of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. Don’t be distracted with promises of becoming rich or having a trouble-free life. Focus on the Narrow Path, on prayer, and growing your relationship with Christ and you will not be disappointed.

Nenhuma outra doutrina

1 Timóteo 1:3-5 (NKJV) Como eu insisti quando entrei na Macedônia - fique em Éfeso para que você possa cobrar de alguns que não ensinem outra doutrina, nem dê ouvidos a fábulas e genealogias sem fim, que causam disputas. em vez de edificação divina que está na fé. Agora, o propósito do mandamento é o amor de um coração puro, de uma boa consciência e da fé sincera.

Paulo havia deixado Timóteo em Éfeso para advertir a igreja e repreender algumas pessoas que estavam ensinando falsas doutrinas. Escrevendo da Macedônia para Timóteo, Paulo enfatiza que argumentar sobre fábulas e genealogias leva a disputas, e não ao propósito do mandamento, que é o amor de um coração puro.

Embora Paulo tenha escrito sua carta para Timóteo, cerca de dois mil anos atrás, ela continua sendo aplicável. Hoje temos pregadores e mestres espalhando doutrinas que não levam as pessoas a um relacionamento com Deus, mas soam bem e apelam para a natureza carnal.

Concluindo a meditação

Seguir o mandamento ao amor leva a um profundo relacionamento com Deus, que é o propósito do sacrifício de Cristo na cruz. Não se distraia com promessas de enriquecer ou de ter uma vida sem problemas. Concentre-se no caminho estreito, na oração e no crescimento de seu relacionamento com Cristo e você não ficará desapontado.

Meditation 116

The Lens of Love

Philippians 1:9-10 (AMP) And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more and extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight [that your love may display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment], So that you may surely learn to sense what is vital, and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value [recognizing the highest and the best, and distinguishing the moral differences], and that you may be untainted and pure and unerring and blameless [so that with hearts sincere and certain and unsullied, you may approach] the day of Christ [not stumbling nor causing others to stumble].

As we are changed inwardly into the image of Jesus Christ love for God and others flourishes, and our discernment of what really matters in life increases. The lens of love brings into focus the cruelty and devastation of sin as, well as the redeeming, merciful, gift of salvation   extended to all in this dark and dying world through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. 

As we progress along the Narrow Path Christ begins to reveal the Father’s heart for His saved and lost children. Father’s heart desire is to mold those that have received salvation into true sons that worship Him by regulating their lives according to His word and use their lives to draw those trapped in the webs of sin to Him.

Ending Thoughts

Your progress in Christ is revealed by how you view the lost.  Do you see those caught in the web of sin as needing salvation? Does their need move you to tell them about Jesus Christ? If so, the molding process is progressing in you. If not, your lenses need more cleansing which is accomplished by yielding your life to His commandment to love.

A Lente do Amor

Filipenses 1:9-10 (AMP) E isto eu oro: para que o seu amor possa abunhar ainda mais e mais e estender-se ao seu pleno desenvolvimento em conhecimento e todo discernimento aguçado [para que seu amor possa se manifestar em maior profundidade de conhecimento e mais discernimento abrangente], Para que você aprenda a sentir o que é vital, e aprove e valorize o que é excelente e de valor real [reconhecendo o mais elevado e o melhor, e distinguindo as diferenças morais], e que você seja imaculado e puro e infalível e irrepreensível [para que com corações sinceros, certos e imaculados, você possa se aproximar] do dia de Cristo [não tropeçando nem fazendo com que outros tropeçam].

À medida que somos transformados interiormente na imagem de Jesus Cristo, o amor por Deus e os outros floresce, e nosso discernimento do que realmente importa na vida aumenta. A lente do amor coloca em foco a crueldade e a devastação do pecado, assim como o presente de salvação redentor, misericordioso, estendido a todos neste mundo sombrio e moribundo através do sacrifício de Jesus Cristo.

À medida que avançamos ao longo do Caminho Estreito, Cristo começa a revelar o coração do Pai para Seus filhos salvos e perdidos. O desejo do coração do Pai é moldar aqueles que receberam a salvação em verdadeiros filhos que O adoram, regulando suas vidas de acordo com Sua Palavra e usando suas vidas para atrair aqueles que estão presos nas teias de pecado a Ele.

Seu progresso em Cristo é revelado pela maneira como você vê os perdidos. Você vê aqueles que estão presos na teia do pecado precisando de salvação? A sua necessidade leva você a falar sobre Jesus Cristo? Se assim for, o processo de moldagem está progredindo em você. Se não, suas lentes precisam de mais limpeza, o que é realizado cedendo sua vida ao Seu mandamento de amar.
